AFFIRMATION OF DEMOCRATIC PRINCIPLES AND PRACTICES
The Australian International Academy of Education declares and affirms that school programs and teaching practices embrace the following important principles:
- The promotion of peace, harmony and understanding through intercultural interactions.
- All Australians have equal rights before the law. We reject any form(s) of discrimination based on race, religion or sex.
- The rule of law and the respect of the rights of others.
- The values of fairness, openness, sharing and giving a hand, looking after neighbours, tolerance, understanding and acceptance.
- People are free to choose and practice their religions. But we reject those who preach violence and hatred in the name of any religion.
- The right of individuals to enjoy the freedom of speech, expression and association. But we reject verbal and written abuses and transgressions against others under the cover of freedom of speech and expression.
- The Australian system of democratically elected governments and councils is the best that serves the interest of all Australians.

A special welcome to our new families and students—we are grateful to have you join our community and look forward to supporting your child’s growth. To our returning families, welcome back! Your trust and support mean a great deal to us.
Our Commitment to Every Child
Our school recognises that every child is unique, with strengths, curiosity, and potential. Our mission extends beyond academic excellence—we strive to nurture students emotionally, socially, and spiritually, fostering confident, compassionate, and well-rounded individuals.
Our School Vision
We aim to develop self-motivated, confident graduates who can contribute positively to Australia and the global community. Most importantly, we encourage them to uphold strong Islamic values, such as integrity, respect, and compassion, ensuring they make meaningful contributions wherever they go.
How We Support Every Child’s Success
To achieve this vision, we offer tailored support to meet the diverse needs of our students:
- Support for Everyone – Every child benefits from a structured learning environment with clear expectations. Programs like Zones of Regulation and Smiling Minds help students manage emotions and build resilience.
- Extra Support When Needed – Some students may need additional help with learning or social skills. Small group sessions provide targeted support in key areas like reading, writing, and mathematics.
- Personalised Help for Specific Needs – For students requiring more focused support, we collaborate with parents to develop individualised learning plans, which may include one-on-one teacher assistance, speech therapy, psychological support, or additional learning resources.
- Enrichment for High-Achieving Students – We recognise and nurture students who excel academically through advanced learning opportunities, extension programs, and enrichment activities in subjects like mathematics, science, and creative writing. These students are encouraged to engage in problem-solving challenges, research projects, and leadership initiatives to further develop their talents.
If you believe your child would benefit from extra support or enrichment opportunities, please speak with their teacher—we are here to work with you.

Ramadan is a time for reflection, gratitude, and community. We commend our students for their dedication in balancing their studies with their spiritual commitments.
Ramadan at Our School
Monday, March 3rd – White Islamic Attire Day & Ramadan Assembly
To honour the spirit of Ramadan, all students and teachers are encouraged to wear white Islamic attire on Monday, March 3rd. This will be an out-of-uniform day, symbolising the purity and light of this sacred month.
On this special day, students will attend a Ramadan Assembly, where they will reflect on the significance of Ramadan and its values of compassion, gratitude, and self-discipline. Additionally, we are excited to introduce a Daily Ramadan Broadcast led by our Imam, providing students an opportunity to share reflections and collectively welcome Ramadan.
Charity Tins – Supporting Orphans
As part of our commitment to charity and giving, students have been provided with charity tins to encourage daily donations throughout Ramadan. All collected funds will be donated to Islamic Relief Australia in support of the orphans our school has pledged to sponsor and care for.
Ramadan-Themed Activities
Throughout the week, students will engage in a variety of Ramadan-themed activities, including:
- Daily Quran & Reflection Sessions – Strengthening spiritual awareness.
- Acts of Kindness Challenges – Encouraging students to spread kindness in small but meaningful ways.
- Creative Ramadan Projects – Exploring themes of charity, gratitude, and patience through storytelling, art, and interactive lessons.
Year 5 Iftar Night
We are delighted to host a special Iftar Night for our Year 5 students, offering them an opportunity to break their fast together, engage in meaningful discussions, and celebrate Ramadan in a warm and supportive environment.
Supporting Our Students Who Are Fasting
While we encourage and support fasting, we remind our younger students, particularly those in Foundation to Year 4, that this is an age of learning and practice. We kindly ask parents to send a water bottle and lunch with students who are training to fast in case they need to break their fast.
May this Ramadan bring peace, patience, and countless blessings to you and your families.
Foundation to Year 5 Information Night – Thank You
A heartfelt thank you to all the parents who attended our recent Foundation to Year 5 Information Night. It was a fantastic opportunity to connect, discuss classroom expectations, and share our goals for the year.
We emphasise that education is a partnership, and parents play a vital role in their child’s journey. Your involvement—whether through supporting learning at home, attending school events, or staying in touch with teachers—makes a significant difference.

TERM 1 SCHOOL HOLIDAYS (Saturday 5th Apr - Monday 21st Apr) |
At AIA CSPC, we believe that positive behaviour is the foundation of a thriving learning environment. Our Positive Behaviour Intervention and Support (PBIS) Framework promotes student success, responsibility and respect. This system ensures that students receive the right support based on their needs, encouraging personal growth and positive engagement in school life.
What is the Positive Behaviour Intervention and Support (PBIS) Framework?
Our PBIS framework is structured into three tiers, ensuring that all students are supported effectively:
Tier 1: Universal Supports (All Students)
Students benefit from clear expectations, positive reinforcement and consistent classroom management. We teach and model positive behaviours daily and recognise students who demonstrate respect, responsibility, safety and a commitment to learning.
Tier 2: Targeted Supports (Some Students)
For students who need additional guidance, we provide structured interventions such as check-ins, mentoring, and social skills groups. These strategies help students develop self-discipline and accountability while addressing minor behaviour concerns early.
Tier 3: Intensive Supports (Individual Students)
For students who experience persistent behavioural challenges, we develop personalised behaviour plans, restorative conversations and counselling services to support long-term improvement.
Positive Behaviour Expectations
At our school, we uphold four key expectations:
Be Respectful: Treat others with kindness and fairness.
Be Responsible: Own your actions and choices.
Be Safe: Ensure the well-being of yourself and others.
Be a Learner: Strive for excellence and engagement in learning.
By reinforcing these values, we create a safe, structured, and nurturing environment where all students can succeed.

Supporting Student Growth at School
- Regular Positive Reinforcement: Students are rewarded and acknowledged for their efforts in demonstrating positive behaviour by receiving success slips via Compass.
- Restorative Approaches: If students struggle with behaviour expectations, we use restorative discussions to help them reflect and grow.
- Data-Driven Interventions: We track student behaviour data to ensure our support strategies are effective and tailored to each student’s needs.
How You Can Support at Home?
- Encourage the same values at home: Reinforce respect, responsibility, and resilience in daily life.
- Communicate regularly with teachers: Stay informed about your child’s progress and support interventions when needed.
- Praise and reward positive behaviour: Recognise your child’s efforts in meeting expectations at school and at home.
Together, we can create a school community where every child feels valued, supported, and inspired to achieve their best.

Fostering a Growth Mindset in Lower Primary
Lower Primary students have been focusing on the Growth Mindset—the belief that abilities and intelligence can be developed through effort, perseverance, and learning from mistakes. This was the theme of our recent Lower Primary Assembly, where students reflected on the power of "yet" and how challenges help us grow.
During the assembly, students were recognised for demonstrating being Responsible, Respectful, Safe, and a Learner. A big congratulations to all award recipients and to Year 1A for winning Best Class for this assembly!
We are excited to carry the Growth Mindset into our classrooms throughout the year. Encouraging students to embrace challenges, persist through difficulties, and celebrate effort will help them build confidence and resilience.
Let's continue fostering a positive learning environment where students believe in their ability to improve and succeed. Together, we can nurture a community of lifelong learners!
Warm Regards,
Sarah Olayvar
Head of Lower Primary
As Head of Upper Primary, I am very pleased to have our Years 3-5 commence 2025 with a positive attitude and a reflective persona.
Our year level assembly held on the 18th of February reflected our students' hard work and I am very confident that our Upper Primary students will have a full force ahead in the 2025 academic year.
We are implementing our new 3-tier system both academically and at a student management level that will assist in our students achieving the best success for their academic school year.
Smart Watches can be brought to school. However, they need to be left with the classroom teacher until the end of the day. We understand some students may need to contact parents after school or if in an emergency can ask the teacher.
Any alternative watch that is not a smart watch is allowed. Thank you for your assistance in this matter.
We are very proud of our student’s success thus far.
All the best for the 2025 school year.

IB Primary Years Programme (PYP)
Exploring Our Community and Ourselves: A PYP Journey Across All Year Levels
In our vibrant school community, students from Foundation to Year 5 are diving into two compelling Transdisciplinary Themes of the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme (PYP): "How We Organise Ourselves" and "Who We Are." These themes guide our learners to connect with the broader world and introspectively examine their identities, fostering a curriculum that is not only about academic achievements but also about personal and collective growth.
How We Organise Ourselves (FOUNDATION AND YEAR 3)
This theme encourages students to explore systems, structures, and networks, focusing on interactions within and between social and ecological systems, approaches to livelihoods and trade practices, and the intended and unintended consequences of these interactions. Central to this inquiry is the understanding of representation, collaboration, and decision-making. By exploring these concepts, students learn how individuals and communities organise themselves through various systems and the impact of their actions on the world around them. This journey helps them appreciate the complexities of societal organisation and encourages them to think critically about their roles within these systems.
Who We Are (YEARS 1, 2, 4 AND 5)
This theme prompts an inquiry into identity as individuals and as part of a collective through physical, emotional, social, and spiritual health and well-being, relationships and belonging, and continual learning and growing. The exploration of this theme allows students to delve into who they are and how they relate to others, encouraging them to consider how their personal and communal identities shape and are shaped by their experiences and interactions. By reflecting on their health, well-being, and the nature of their relationships, students are equipped to better understand and articulate their place in the world.
As our students navigate through these themes, they engage in activities that promote representation by expressing their unique perspectives; they learn the importance of collaboration by working together to achieve common goals; and they practice decision-making by making choices that reflect their values and contribute to their communities. These experiences are designed to empower them to become principled, open-minded, and caring participants in their communities and the wider world.
Our commitment to the PYP framework continues to inspire our students to be active, compassionate, and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right. Through the PYP, we are nurturing a generation of young thinkers who are ready to tackle the challenges of tomorrow with empathy and informed decision-making.
We are excited to see the ways in which our students grow and apply their learning throughout the school year, demonstrating the core values of the IB Learner Profile Attributes: Inquirers, Knowledgeable, Thinkers, Communicators, Principled, Open-minded, Caring, Risk-takers, Balanced and Reflective.
Stay tuned for more updates in our school newsletter as we continue to explore and learn together in our PYP journey.

Message from The IMAM of AIA-CSPC
Dear Students, Parents, Carers and Friends of Australian International Academy,
(السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَةُ اللهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ)
Assalamu’alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh
On behalf of our school community, I extend a warm and heartfelt welcome to the 2025 academic year. I pray to Allah, the Almighty, the Lord of the Mighty Throne, that this year will be one filled with blessings, goodness, and prosperity for all.
Alhamdulillah (All praise is due to Allah), we have started the year with a variety of blessed and beneficial programs. Among these is the "Before School Quran Class", which runs for 13 minutes each morning. I encourage all parents and guardians to support this valuable initiative by bringing their children early to school. This program helps students learn and memorise short Quranic surahs and essential supplications, fostering a strong spiritual foundation and connecting them with the righteous servants of Allah.
As we approach the blessed month of Ramadan, our school will host a range of special activities to enhance the spiritual and educational experience for our students. These include:
- The Annual Quran Competition
- The Charity and Orphan Sponsorship Program
- The Year 5 Community Iftar Night
- Friday Sermons focusing on Ramadan themes and values
I encourage all families to actively participate and support these programs, as they offer invaluable opportunities for our children to deepen their understanding of the Quran and the teachings of Islam.
Before concluding, I emphasise the importance of helping our children connect with the Book of Allah not only during Ramadan but throughout the year. By encouraging them to memorise, reflect on, and cherish the Quran, we fulfill our duty to raise a generation that values and lives by the divine guidance, thus embodying the virtues of being the best nation brought forth for humanity.
Finally, I cannot overlook the importance of making du'a (supplication) for our brothers and sisters facing hardships around the world, especially in Gaza, Palestine, Lebanon, Iraq, Yemen, and all Muslim lands. Their resilience and steadfastness in supporting the blessed cause of Palestine serve as an inspiration to us all.
May Allah bless our school community, guide us to what pleases Him, and grant success to our students in both this life and the Hereafter.
Please always make Duas and ask Allah (SWT) for you, your family and the Muslim Ummah, because when the Rahma of Allah (SWT) comes it will cover everyone in your household.
O’ Allah (SWT), We seek Your forgiveness and Your protection in this world and the next. O’ Allah (SWT), We seek Your forgiveness and Your protection in our religion, in our worldly affairs, in our family and in our wealth. O’ Allah (SWT), guard us from what is in front of us and behind us, from our left, and from our right, and from above us. I seek refuge in Your Greatness from all harms and diseases. Ameen.
We hope that we can have a very successful semester working together as partners in the education of your children.
We pray that Allāh (SWT) sends His mercy and blessings upon our students and grant us a great success.

Welcoming Ramadan at Our School
As we prepare for the blessed month of Ramadan, our school is buzzing with excitement. This month offers a beautiful opportunity to embrace the true spirit of Ramadan—one of kindness, patience, reflection, and unity. Our school will be transformed as each class creates Ramadan-themed decorations, bringing the essence of this sacred month to life.
The Ramadan Assembly will be a central highlight of our celebrations, where students will sing welcoming songs with lanterns in hand, symbolising the light and joy Ramadan brings. We will also host a special Ramadan Broadcast, sharing reflections, stories, and lessons that highlight the significance of Ramadan in our lives.
To engage our students further, we’ll have a Ramadan Quiz after prayers, testing their knowledge of this blessed month. Throughout Ramadan, the spirit of the month will be integrated into all subjects, offering a whole-school approach to learning.
Fasting during Ramadan will deepen students' connection to the month, uniting them as they support one another through this spiritual journey. Let’s take it easy on our young students in Prep to Year 3 and encourage them to fast until at least lunchtime. Growing up in an environment where Islamic values and rules are embraced will instil a strong sense of belonging and strengthen their understanding of faith, compassion, and unity.

Welcome to a New School Year!
Welcome back to a new school year! Whether you are returning or joining us for the first time, this is a wonderful opportunity to learn, explore, and grow. Our school is a place where we celebrate achievements, learn from challenges, and build lifelong friendships.
Starting a new year can bring excitement and uncertainty. Adjusting to new routines, meeting classmates, or facing academic challenges may seem overwhelming, but every challenge is an opportunity for growth. With perseverance and a positive mindset, inshAllah, we can overcome anything.
As the school counsellor, I am here to support you. If you ever feel anxious or need someone to talk to, my door is always open. Building a kind, respectful, and inclusive community is essential.
It’s hard to believe that Ramadan is just around the corner, and it's the opportune time to reflect on how the values we practice during this blessed month—such as patience, discipline, self-reflection, and empathy—can enhance our focus, relationships, and overall growth in school. Just as Ramadan encourages us to be more mindful and dedicated, we can apply these same qualities to our studies, behaviour, and interactions with others in the classroom.

This term, our Prep to Year 4 students explored Tawheed (Oneness of Allah), the Five
Pillars of Islam and the Six Pillars of Iman through engaging activities and discussions. They learned about believing in Allah alone, the importance of prayer, fasting, charity, and faith in the unseen. As we approach the blessed month of Ramadan, our students are being introduced to its virtues and significance. They learned about the beauty of fasting, kindness, and generosity, preparing their hearts for this special time of worship.
We are proud of their enthusiasm and encourage you to continue these discussions at home. Wishing you a blessed Ramadan!

Grade 5 Students Explore ‘Praying The Prophet’s Way’:
This term, our Year 5 students have been deepening their understanding of prayer by learning how to pray the way of the Prophet (PBUH). They expanded their knowledge of taharah (purification) and sunnah prayers, exploring their significance in daily life. Students also learned about the importance of prayer for both the body and soul, discovering how it helps clear the mind, bring inner peace, and strengthen their connection with Allah. Building Bridges with Arabic: Dive into the Fun Sanabil Experience!
We are thrilled to introduce our new Arabic program at school, featuring the Sanabil Series, designed to make Arabic learning both enjoyable and effective. This program not only focuses on teaching the Arabic language but also integrates essential skills such as listening, speaking, reading, and writing, all while fostering a deep love for language learning. Through a blend of hands-on activities, songs, flashcards, games, and interactive tasks, students will acquire vocabulary using creative methods like annotations, gestures, PowerPoint presentations, and fun competitions.
By the end of each theme, the expectation is that students will confidently compose a paragraph to demonstrate their learning, which strengthens both their writing abilities and language retention. The use of real-life objects and thematic lessons, like interactive clocks to learn time, ensures a dynamic and practical learning experience.
We encourage you to support your child’s progress by reviewing their work weekly and helping them catch up on any missed content. The Sanabil Series is designed to be independent and easy to follow, allowing students to learn at their own pace while developing their Arabic language skills. By revisiting and revising previous books, your child can reinforce their learning and build a stronger foundation.
All the books in the series are available online, and your child's Arabic teacher can provide a soft copy if you would like a copy for home use. Thank you for your ongoing support in enriching your child’s Arabic learning journey.
Foundation
As we began this term, students were supported in understanding the Right-to-Left writing system while integrating the Arabic alphabet (ء – ا – ب - ت). They learned to pronounce letters with Fatthah and explored the concept of short and long vowels by adding Fatthah above the letters and connecting them to Alif, preparing them for the concept of Madd sound. They were also introduced to the concept of Selfish and Kind letters, helping them understand proper letter connections.

Year 1
As we began this term, students smoothly settled into their Arabic class routine. They were introduced to common letter attributes to distinguish between Selfish and Kind letters for reading and writing, as well as between heavy and light letters for speaking and listening. They also explored short and long vowels.
Additionally, students practiced Arabic greetings and simple response words, and they will continue learning Ramadan greetings in preparation for the holy month. To celebrate this special occasion, they also created their own lanterns, adding a personal touch to the festivities.

Year 2
The Year 2 students have been focusing on short and long vowels, engaging in interactive classroom games to deepen their understanding of the topic. Additionally, they utilized the Arabic books from the "Snabil Series" to enhance their reading and practice skills.
Year 3
The Year 3 students have been actively learning how to introduce themselves in Arabic. They have successfully mastered self-introductions and even had the opportunity to interview teachers and fellow students across the school. Their efforts and achievements have been truly commendable.
Year 4
This term, our enthusiastic Grade 4 students were thrilled to begin working with the Sanabil book series. Through engaging activities and interactive role plays, they explored the Arabic language in meaningful ways, enhancing both their understanding and practical application. From collaborative exercises to real-life scenarios, students actively demonstrated their growing language skills with confidence and creativity. Well done, Grade 4!

Showing Fair play during Physical Education classes and Interschool Sport events
- Respect each other: Students should respect their opponents both on and off the field. This means treating them with self-respect and kindness and acknowledging their skills and accomplishments.
- Follow the rules: Students should always abide by the rules of the game, even if they disagree with them. Cheating or bending the rules to gain an unfair advantage is not fair play.
- Play within their abilities: Students should play to the best of their abilities and not try to intentionally harm or injure opponents. They should also avoid taunting or trash-talking opponents.
- Accept defeat graciously: Losing is a natural part of sports, and students should learn to accept defeat graciously. This means congratulating the winners and reflecting on how to improve for future competitions.
- Support teammates: Students should support and encourage their teammates, even if they make mistakes. This helps to build team spirit and creates a positive atmosphere for everyone.
- Respect umpires: Students should respect the decisions made by officials, even if they disagree with them. Arguing with or criticizing officials is not fair play.
By demonstrating these qualities, students can show fair play in sports and promote a positive and enjoyable athletic experience for everyone involved.

Showing Sportsmanship during Physical Education Class
Showing good sportsmanship is important in any sport or physical activity.
The sports department has observed and witnessed many different behaviours when it comes to playing sports in class or at recess and lunch. Playing sports should be a happy place where students show off their skills and learn and develop new skills. The sports department would like parents to encourage students to follow these helpful tips to show sportsmanship during sports class.
Respect others: One of the most important aspects of sportsmanship is showing respect to other players, coaches, and referees. This means not only being polite and courteous but also acknowledging good plays and efforts from other players, regardless of their skill level.
Stay positive: Even if someone is not performing as well as they would like, it is important to stay positive and encourage others. This can help create a positive atmosphere on the field or court and can help others feel motivated and supported.
Focus on effort: Rather than focusing solely on the outcome of a game or competition, it can be helpful to focus on the effort that each player puts in. This means acknowledging hard work and dedication, even if the final score doesn't reflect that effort.
Learn from mistakes: Mistakes and failures are a natural part of any sport and can actually be a great opportunity to learn and improve. Someone who is struggling in a sport can demonstrate good sportsmanship by being willing to learn from mistakes and work on areas where they need improvement.
By following these principles of good sportsmanship, even those who may feel less skilled or experienced in a sport can still make a positive contribution to their team and their overall sporting experience.

This term, our Preps to Year 5 students are diving into the world of Visual Arts and exploring its related art elements. Each week, they focus on one specific element, such as line, shape, color, texture, space, and form, bringing these concepts to life through creative artwork. Students have been using a variety of art materials and equipment, including paints, markers, pencils, and different types of textures to experiment with different techniques. The hands-on activities help them understand how each element plays a role in creating artwork, allowing them to develop their skills while building confidence in their artistic abilities. Through this exploration, students are learning about the basics of Visual Art and also enhancing their problem-solving abilities. We’re excited to see how their artistic journeys unfold throughout the term, InshaAllah!

The Library is the central hub of our school and students are enjoying the new themes and activities we are offering. Library classes begin with a story and are followed by an activity to colour for younger students or, for older students, a discussion about the book's theme. Students peruse the shelves of our library and borrow a book for the week or two. The lunchtime activities are underway on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. There are games, puzzles, construction toys, quiet reading and colourings. This year, during lunchtime activities, we are offering an outdoor area at the rear of the library where students can play board games in the fresh air. The library will be hosting the Ali-Gator Book Fair just in time for Ramadan. Students will be able to purchase a variety of items and decorations.

My Hijab, My Crown: Embracing Faith, Identity, Respect, and Strength at AIA Primary
AIA Primary School celebrated World Hijab Day with a special mother-daughter event, filling the hall with a vibrant purple theme. The Year 5 girls entered like queens, proudly wearing their hijab and crowns, symbolising their faith and identity.
The event featured inspiring student presentations and a thought-provoking session by Hana, a clinical psychologist and Muslim mental health advocate. Her heartfelt discussion and engaging approach encouraged students to reflect deeply on the importance of the Hijab.
Meanwhile, the Year 5 boys attended a session on Respectful Relationships led by Dr. Yassir Morsi and Imam Mohammed. They explored age appropriate changes, the importance of respectful interactions, and their role in supporting their sisters and families. The boys were highly engaged in this meaningful discussion.
The day concluded with Ms. Asma, the Head of Arabic, Religion Quran, leading the girls in singing "حِـجَـابِي تَـاجِـي" (My Hijab is My Crown), beautifully integrating Quran, Religion, and Arabic. Inspired by the 2025 theme #HijabisUnsilenced, students and mothers actively participated, making the event a truly memorable one.
A big thank you to the Religion Department, Year 5 Team, and Events Coordinator for organising this impactful event, supporting young girls as they embrace the Hijab with confidence.

Welcome to Our 2025 Foundation Students
We’re excited to welcome our new Foundation students and their families to the AIA Primary Campus in Caroline Springs.
Over the past few weeks, we’ve focused on getting to know each other, settling into our daily routines, and making new friends. As part of our Inquiry unit, we collaborated with the students to create our classroom essential agreements, which will help ensure our learning environment is happy, nurturing, productive, and safe for everyone. This unit is a great way for our Foundation students to start the year. Through various learning experiences, they’re gaining a better understanding of how to make positive choices and interact kindly with others in different situations. One of our key goals this year is to help students develop self-regulation skills by understanding their emotions and making thoughtful choices to build positive relationships within the school community. The students engaged and applied their knowledge in an incursion about making positive choices in our community when crossing the road.
The Foundation students have also explored our campus, familiarising themselves with important areas like the library, office, toilets, drink stations, playground, sandpit, and the Art and ICT rooms. They’ve had the chance to meet key members of the school community, including our principal, librarian, and other teachers.
In class, students have been practicing letter formation to write their names, developing counting skills, and making connections to the books and poems we read during literacy lessons.
We’re excited to spend the 2025 school year with our Foundation students. We look forward to working closely with all our parents, guardians, and families to create strong partnerships supporting each child’s positive learning journey.

Welcome back to school, Year 2! It’s been an exciting start to the year, and we’re thrilled to have our students back in the classroom.
This term, our students have been busy learning about place value in Math. Using the interactive whiteboard (IWB), they explored how numbers are made up of hundreds, tens, and ones, enhancing their understanding of numbers. Through engaging activities and games, students have been able to visually and practically represent numbers, making it easier to grasp this important concept. Their confidence is growing as they begin to break down larger numbers and understand how place value works.
In our Unit of Inquiry, we’ve focused on healthy choices and eating, where students have explored the importance of balanced nutrition and how healthy habits support a strong body and mind. We look forward to more learning and discoveries in the weeks ahead!

Dear Year Three families,
We are excited to share an update on our learning journey as we begin the new term. Our students have jumped straight into exploring the Learner Profiles – a key component of the IB Primary Years Programme. These profiles represent the qualities we aim to develop in our students and they guide our approach to learning and personal growth.
To start off, the children had the opportunity to reflect on the different learner profiles, and from this, they each identified their dominant trait and then expressed themselves through self-portraits, showcasing their individual personalities and strengths. This activity not only allowed them to better understand the learner profile, but also helped foster a sense of self-awareness and pride in their unique qualities
As young learners progress in their writing journey, persuasive writing becomes an essential skill. Persuasive writing is all about expressing an opinion on a topic and convincing others to agree with that point of view. For Year 3 students, persuasive writing introduces them to the idea of taking a stance on a particular issue and supporting their opinion with reasons and evidence. This type of writing encourages critical thinking and helps students communicate their ideas clearly and convincingly.
Warm regards,
Miss. Jasmine (3A), Miss. Vee (3B), Miss. Nur (3C) and Miss. Naz (3D).
Year 4 Students Explore Rounding and Number Concepts
This term, our Year 4 students have been exploring essential mathematical concepts, building upon their prior knowledge of place value and number renaming. Their recent focus has been on understanding rounding, as well as distinguishing between odd and even numbers.
Building on Place Value and Renaming
Earlier in the term, students revisited place value, enhancing their ability to decompose numbers into units, tens, hundreds, and beyond. This foundational skill, often referred to as renaming, is crucial for various mathematical operations and problem-solving scenarios.
Exploring Rounding Techniques
With a solid grasp of place value, students progressed to the concept of rounding numbers. They learned to approximate numbers to the nearest ten, hundred, or thousand, facilitating quicker estimations and mental calculations. Engaging activities and practical examples helped them understand when and why rounding is useful in everyday contexts.
Understanding Odd and Even Numbers
In addition to rounding, the curriculum introduced lessons on identifying and differentiating between odd and even numbers. Through interactive exercises, students discovered patterns and developed strategies to quickly determine a number's parity, reinforcing their number sense and analytical skills.
Classroom Activities and Resources
To reinforce these concepts, teachers employed a variety of resources, including visual aids, hands-on manipulatives, and digital tools. Collaborative group work and individual practice ensured that students could apply their learning in diverse scenarios, promoting a deeper understanding of the material.
As we continue through the term, we encourage parents to engage with their children about these topics, fostering a supportive environment that values the importance of mathematical literacy.
